The Plasma Science and Fusion Center (PSFC) is seeking a postdoctoral associate to conduct research in the areas of fusion neutronics. The research focuses on advancing the state of the art for benchmark problems for DT tokamaks using the SPARC tokamak facility. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining complex CAD models of the SPARC facility for neutron transport simulations and will work with researchers and technicians collecting experimental measurements around the facility for comparison to simulations. The candidate is expected to make original research contributions to the PSFC program, produce work for publication, and present work at scientific conferences.
REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering or related field with a strong background in Monte Carlo methods or computational physics. Proficiency with Python programming is essential. Experience with activation workflows, shut-down dose rate calculations, and computational benchmarking is beneficial as well. In addition, the candidate must enjoy working in a team environment with staff and students from MIT, other universities, national laboratories, and be able to communicate effectively.
Salary Range: $80K-$85K
