Jungpyo Lee’s article 'Turbulent momentum pinch of diamagnetic flows in a tokamak' has been selected to be a part of the Nuclear Fusion 2014 Highlights collection. The collection features 22 papers which have been chosen for their outstanding quality and valuable contribution to the fusion research community.
Lee’s paper, co-authored with Felix Parra and Michael Barnes reports on research conducted while he was a PhD student in the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering at MIT. The article explains the possible mechanism for the intrinsic rotation peaking in the core observed in H-mod plasmas using the theory of turbulent momentum pinch of diamagnetic flows.
After completing his PhD in 2013 Lee worked for two years as a postdoctoral research associate at NYU's Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. He returned to the MIT in June of 2015 to join the PSFC theory group as a research scientist. His main research interests are the plasma physics theory and computation
Topics: Magnetic fusion energy, Alcator C-Mod tokamak, Plasma theory & simulation, Plasma turbulence
