IAP Seminars

The goal of this IAP course, which consists of four 90 minute lecture sessions, is to equip the students with the fundamental ideas and techniques needed to construct asymptotic solutions to differential equations. These concepts form the theoretical underpinning to many powerful analytic techniques such as WKB theory, boundary layer theory, and multiple-scale analysis which are used throughout science and engineering.  The technical content will include dominant balance, optimal truncation, analysis about regular and irregular singular points, calculus of asymptotics, scale separation, and Kruskal's principles of asymptotology.
