Expertise

Transport barriers; mm-wave diagnostics; integrated fusion scenarios.

Research

Alcator C-Mod: Long time team member responsible for electron cyclotron emission diagnostics, which measure electron temperatures. Research interests focus on edge transport barriers (H-mode and new I-mode regime) and on integration of boundary solutions with core scenarios.

U.S. Burning Plasma Organization: Deputy Director. Mission of USBPO is to “Advance the scientific understanding of burning plasmas and ensure the greatest benefit from a burning plasma experiment by coordinating relevant U.S. fusion research with broad community participation.”

ITER ECE diagnostic design: Lead investigator for MIT subcontract to Univ. Texas, responsible for software design.

International Collaborations: Engaged in research on EAST, aiming to develop I-mode scenario.
