Effects of radiation damage on the superconducting properties of REBCO tapes

Research

I am researching how radiation damage influences the critical currents in high-temperature superconductors, specifically REBCO tapes. We create conditions in our experimental setups, that enable us to understand how neutron irradiation will affect the behaviour of fusion magnets. The goal is to determine the parameters necessary to obtain fusion relevant experimental results while having short test cycles.

The findings are important for optimizing the shielding requirements and magnet design to achieve a long enough life-time of this key component of a fusion reactor.
