Research

Data Acquisition / Data Management: One of the primary authors of the MDSplus data system. This suite of tools, used by more than 40 fusion experiments world wide, provides data acquisition, experiment workflow, data organization, and remote data access. The focus is on allowing users to structure their data and metadata so that they can retain their usefulness over long periods of time.

Data Provenance: The Metadata Ontology Provenance (MPO) project, is a three-institution collaboration, which has built a tool to track the provenance of computed results. Users construct directed acyclic graphs as side effects of running their computational workflows. These graphs can then be annotated, and shared among collaborators. The provenance of data products is directly represented by the graphs.
